Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 05.09.2026 WalkingBible is a Scripture memorisation app and website. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, what we use it for, and what we deliberately do not collect. It covers the WalkingBible mobile application ("App") and walkingbible.com ("Site").
WalkingBible ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. By using the App or the Site, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.

b. What You Are Memorising Your lists, your review history and your practice schedule are held on your device. When you are signed in, a backup is kept so that a new phone can restore your progress. It is tied to your account. It is never sold, never shared, and never used for advertising.
c. Usage Analytics Counts of how the App and the Site are used, and the device and app version they were used on. Section 2 sets out exactly what these contain, and what they can never contain.
d. Diagnostics Crash reports and error logs, so that we can fix faults.
e. Reminders If you turn practice reminders on, we store a notification token for that device so that a reminder can be delivered while the App is closed.
We do not collect location. The App requests no location permission on either platform.
What we record are counts and settings: how far setup got, whether a first drill was completed, that a practice session finished and how many verses were in it, which drill mode was used, that playback started, that a reminder was scheduled or answered, and that a list was shared, opened or followed. Every value is a number.
No event we send contains a passage, a reference, a verse, the text of anything, your search terms, your email address or your account identifier. This is enforced by an automated test over the whole list of events rather than left to good intentions. Which verses a person is memorising can imply their religious belief, and what somebody searches for in this app is often a prayer request. Neither leaves your device.
We do record which language you are reading in and which Bible translation you have chosen, so that we can tell whether a translation is being used at all. Those are settings you chose, not content you read.
On the Site we use Google Analytics 4 without cookies, and we send no advertising signals. We record the shape of a page rather than the page itself: a shared link to a passage is recorded as "/v/[canonical]" and a shared link to a list as "/l/[slug]". The identifier is removed before anything is sent, and the page title is replaced in the same way, so the name of somebody's list never leaves your browser.
How We Use Your Information To provide the App and the Site, and to keep your progress safe across devices. To fix faults, and to understand whether features are used. To respond to your questions and support requests. To send you service messages, and marketing only where you have asked for it. To comply with legal obligations.
Sharing Your Information We do not sell your personal information. We may share data in the following situations: Service Providers: Google, for sign-in, hosting, database, crash reporting, notifications and analytics. Legal Requirements: we may disclose your data if required to comply with a legal obligation, court order or government request. Business Transfers: in the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the new owner. The App contains no purchases, and we use no payment processor.
Cookies and Similar Technologies The Site sets one cookie, and only if you change the language: it remembers the language you chose. Analytics on the Site is cookieless, so there is no analytics cookie to accept or refuse. The App uses no cookies.
Data Retention We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services, or as required by law. You can delete your account from inside the App, or request deletion by contacting us at info@walkingbible.com.
Data Security We use industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit, to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights You have the following rights regarding your personal data: Access: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you. Correction: You can update or correct inaccuracies in your information. Deletion: You can delete your account and the data attached to it from inside the App, at More, My account, Delete account. You can also request deletion by writing to us. Opt-Out: You can switch off analytics in the App at More, Settings. You can opt out of marketing emails by following the unsubscribe instructions in them. To exercise these rights, please contact us at info@walkingbible.com.
Children's Privacy Our App is not intended for users under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect or maintain personal information from visitors we know are under the age of 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us to have it removed.
International Data Transfers If you are located outside the country where our servers are located, your data may be transferred internationally. We take steps to ensure your data is treated securely in accordance with applicable laws.
Changes to This Privacy Policy We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version will always be posted here. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notifications. By continuing to access or use any aspect of the WalkingBible app or website after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.
